about

I wrote this song thinking back on my Dad. He had dementia before he passed. This song is dedicated to anyone who has experienced dementia or aphasia.

lyrics

Now Take Me Home

I think you’re the girl I might have known
My kids are old and now I’m grown
please hold me tight, and don’t let go
oh what's your name I’d like to know

my memorys hazy now thats true
when i first cried did you cry too?
or was it you who said I do
Would you help me find my other shoe?

I’ve had a good life now take me home
Tuck me in while the kids are still full grown
you’ve taught me every little thing I know
tonight I’ll sing this song …

a lonely night so long ago you sent me off to school
I wore that uniform and learn the golden rules
when I came back you
held me tight and married me in June
or was that you?

last night I shouted out your name
but the words I heard werent quite the same
you held me close and said it’s alright
Mama’s here to stay with you through the night

tonight I’ll sing this song alone
Of how my love for you so brightly shone
Though I’m confused some days I know
I’ll be with you no matter where I go

Please tuck me In I’ve got to go
Please tuck me In I’ve got to go
